As mentioned before, the cha0ticz Q4 strategy guide continues over at the GGL, with this installment covering air and direct damage rockets. It's not quite as good as the first part, but still worth a look - including the discussion in the comments afterwards. Read More and View Comments (1 ) |

One Frank Cabanski has been making highlights videos of recent Eurocup matches and adding some commentary over the top. I've watched a couple, vo0 vs devilmc and blunt vs cooller, and they make a reasonable alternative if you don't want to fire up Q4 and sit through the whole match in demo form. The commentaries not too bad - though you do have to put up with Frank's "SIMULFRAG" exclamations every now and again. The files are currently on FileCloud and FileFront, but check ESR for an upcoming Levi mirror.

The UK/Russia matchup of TooGoood vs Cooler in the 1v1 Eurocup was played last night, slightly ahead of the rescheduled time. Despite jay coming out strong, both maps went to Cooller who took his choice of phrantic 16 - 9, and made it two to nothing by scoring 18 - 9 on TooGoood's choice of the tmp Lost Fleet. Being double elimination TooGoood's not out of it yet though, and will face Toxic in the lower bracket, while Cooller goes on to meet fellow russian Begrip|Jibo. There's a full write up on Clanbase, and demos for your perusal. Read More and View Comments (0 ) |

Drizzt has posted a recap of all the playoff games in the 1v1 Eurocup. Friday's big game, vo0 vs DevilMC went the way many were expecting, with a solid win from the dutchman. Saturday was another matter, however, as Cooller and the UK's very own TooGoood both were under the impression the other had rescheduled, so the game is now to be played tonight at 8pm (probably). There are some good matches coming up this week, notably Vo0 vs Fox in the winners bracket. Check it out on the main league page.
Who hadn't expected Vo0, the legend from Painkiller, to defeat DevilMC who, even though he had been doing well in UT2k4, just did not have the reputation as progamer like Vo0 did? Not many people, I can tell you that. A grand number of seven people bet on DevilMC, and they saw their money go down the drain as Vo0 showed him all the corners of Blip and Phrantic. After a first week in which a staggering 124 games were played, the DuelMania crew have kicked off the second as they move into the first round in the losers bracket, and the second in the winners. The brackets are online, for the interested, though it's not a small page.
Also on the QW tip, there's as an interview with EQL admin Sassa, over on the EQL site. Read More and View Comments (0 ) |

Congratulations to ACK, who have won the first season of Q4 Arena CTF over at Savage. Undefeated, with just 1 draw all season, ACK finished 3 points clear of runners up Grievous Angels. Potential and current clans might want to head over to the savage forums, where there's a poll asking whether they should run season two of ACTF, or a season of regular Q4CTF. In the Q4 TDM Eurocup the playoffs are finished, and the matches set for a position in the quarter finals. In the last two playoff matches fnatic went down to team9 after some close maps, while SoL were outclassed conclusively by Northstar. None of the next round of matches have been scheduled yet, though Right has threatened to force schedules after midday Saturday. The games are as follows:
- ic vs team9
- aAa vs aL
- FOE vs sCa
- 4k vs mTw
- dignitas vs ess
- aC vs Mayhem
- GUNK vs wooSai
- eye vs N
In the 1v1 cup pay joined av3k in the losers bracket after his loss to winz. The first of the big names down to join them was Ztrider, knocked out by ooze. His fnatic teammate, and Q2 star, Purri was quick to join him, suffering from a headache after beating kyzma on Galang he went down hard on blip and phrantic. This sets up kyzma - winz in the upper bracket, while purri faces pay in the lower.
Tonight sees a big match as the PK number 1 vo0 meets DevilMC at half past six. Tomorrow at 8 we have cooller versus TooGoood, and at 9 toxic vs jibo. Read More and View Comments (0 ) |

Over on the giggle, Cha0ticz has written the first in a series of guides to weapons and tactics in Quake 4. This article covers use of the rocket launcher, with the next installment covering air rockets.
The trick is not to try to change something physical about your aim. It’s very hard to teach relearn the way you move your mouse or flick your wrist. However, it’s a bit easier to aim for a different target than you usually do. Over a small amount of time this process will just begin to feel natural and you won’t even realize that you once had to force it. Read More and View Comments (1 ) |

The Q3TDM NationCup is underway, with a poor start to the UK campaign in the form of a 2-0 loss to France on ospdm5 (FR choice, 107 - 66) and dm7 (UK choice 255 - 196). Over the two maps Fragma, raw, slu, darknox and hamstahue lined up for the UK, with style coaching, while the French team featured Bossy, mitch and pipeline, with para and zerg-spirit swapping coaching duties. The match report is on Clanbase, by Zerg-Spirit.
On dm7, it was harder. When the game began, it was very tense, and UK team even had the lead for like 3-4 minutes. But thanks to your ebil full cess taccy, we reduced the gap and finally managed to re take the lead. UK Team had most quads at the beginning, but when we managed to have a better control of the red, we took more quads and it permits us to have a comfortable lead until the end.
The next UK match is versus Poland, next Wednesday. Slovakia play Estonia this Saturday, while in Group B Sweden face Germany tomorrow night, and Luxembourg take on Spain on Friday. Read More and View Comments (0 ) |
