So I'm nicking this off ESR, but since dallow could have posted it here it's A-OK. Coventry's premiere LAN party returns with new hotness CovLan 3: Die Covlan Die. There's hardware and cash up for grabs as prizes for the Q4 duel and TDM tournaments, and a free raffle - so you could win a graphics card even if you're crap. It's fourty quid for the three days, with 100 places available (some of which have already been Bought And Paid For, so you wait till the last minute at your own risk).
The event lasts for 3 days, and will be held at the Midland Sports Centre in Coventry, UK on the 2nd to the 4th of June. Doors open at 2pm on Friday and close at 7pm on Sunday.
There will be Quake 4 Duel and TDM tournaments with prizes thanks to the LAN's sponsors including Gladiator Computers, xFx Graphics and #Reason-Gaming. Read More and View Comments (2 ) |

Bif has sent word that the much awaited jolt LAN has finally materialised. It's to be held in Central London at the Black Island Studios in association with 4K and Intel (There is some PK competition where you can enter and if you win you get to be a full 4K member for a year with sponsorship to the CPL World Tour).
It's a multigaming LAN, with spaces for up to 400 people in the BYOC area, and it's hoped that there will be a large Q3 attendance, with perhaps the jolt q3ctfl and q3dml admin team running some competitions (altho that is yet to be confirmed. Entry is £39.95 for the 3 days, or £5 to spectate (no discount for just 1 or 2 days tho). The website looks like it isn't quite finished yet, as some of the links don't work, but you can find out more about the BYOC LAN here, and the 4K competition here.

George over on cached brings word that the CPl will not be using Doom 3 in it's upcoming World Tour. I'll let a copy/paste do the job:
The CPL announced today that it will not use DOOM 3 in The World Tour, as was widely expected.
The league is still in discussions with two other publishers/developers about using one of their games. The tournament game (and other tour-related news) will be officially announced later this month.
The CPL World Tour will commence late February 2005 and will travel to 10 (ten) cities across the globe. The tour will offer a $1,000,000 cash purse, the largest cash prize ever for a computer game tournament. Over 10,000 gamers are expected to participate in the qualifiers, stops and finals.
The comments of that post make interesting reading, as there is much speculation over which game it will be, with even Angel chipping in a few comments, on the rough timeframe the replacement game will be announced. I personally think that the game will be UT2K4 (if a 3d fps) or some RTS game like WC3.
