Whilst looking for the report of my q3 ctf clan's (dp) recent win over xp in the opencup on ClanBase, I saw this news story, which announces the release of the first (official) patch for Doom 3 (I also noticed that the Doom 3 Demo has also been released, but that's probably old news). You, can get the file from the CB FTP here. If you want to find out what's changed, click the "read more" link. The most important bits are probably the following:
- Bumped damage up on rocket jumping in multiplayer
- Decreased damage from chaingun to 25 in multiplayer
- Exploding barrels to full damage to attacker in multiplayer
- Increased height for falling damage in multiplayer
- Made g_fov modifiable in mutiplayer from 90 to 110
- Fixed frags going negative when over 64. Maxfrags now at 100.
The Fov thing is a biggy for me, tho I would have liked it at capped at 120 personally, The RJ damage change is fairly sensible, as is the chaingun damage, and our marine can now fall more than a cm without hurting himself, but the maxfrags being changed from 64 to 100 hardly seems worth it? why put a limit on it at all? Surely that can be left to the server admin to decide (or better still have it voteable), most odd!
